The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel located in the Thames River in Southbank, London, England. Opened in 2000, its height makes it the tallest free-standing Ferris wheel in Europe at. The wheel stands on three pontoons connected by two tubular steel trusses and holds 72 passengers per gondola (total 360). Each of the four pods of the wheel contains eight passenger capsules, each capsule holding five people. It was designed by Foster + Partners and constructed by BAM Nuttall using a single piece of extruded aluminium.
How long does it take to go around the London Eye? A leisurely rotation in one of the 32 high-tech glass pods takes approximately 30 minutes and gives you an ever-changing perspective of London. If you can't wait to get up in the sky you can skip the queues with a fast-track entry ticket.

As a rough guide, summer hours are 10 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. and winter hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., but do check in advance on their site for the hours on the day you plan to go.
